I just wanted to give a little update about my Doorstep Portraits project New Malden. Over the last 6 weeks I’ve visited residents all over New Malden, at their homes to take their Doorstep Portraits.

I met so many wonderful families, some had new babies, some were celebrating birthdays others had not been out of the house for weeks. It was more than I could have imagined, to be able to talk to strangers as and meet new people, something, that in ‘normal’ life we often take for granted. Not only were we raising money for two local charities - Stay Well and Kingston Food-bank (I will include details about each Charity below) but we were documenting a moment in time that will hopefully never have to be repeated. I hope in years to come the images I captured will be a talking point for the families I photographed as they reflect of this unprecedented time that will go down in History.

To date my Doorstep Portraits project has raised over £500! I’m still speechless at the amount and blown away by the response I received from the residents of New Malden.

The money raised has been split equally between two local Charities that like many, have been hugely impacted by COVID 19.

Stay Well is an independent, award winning Charity who aim to support older people and their carers. They work to create a greater understanding of older people's needs and their potential to contribute to community life. Stay Well are currently aiming to raise £50,00 so that their support for older people continues during the current pandemic and beyond. To make a donation please click here.

Kingston Food-bank provide emergency food and support for local people who are in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of food banks who aim to combat poverty and hunger across the Uk. There are many ways you can help, to make a donation online please click here or for a list of local supermarkets and churches that currently accept food donations, please click here .

A HUGE Thank you to all the residents of New Malden who took part on the #DoorstepPortraits
